North Yorkshire Moors Photography Workshop

A gentle day out, photographing from the car. I have devised a route that takes us through some of the most scenic and iconic places on the moors, although It can be tailored to suit your target species, or places. Once on the moors species can include the Dotterel which is a regular May early June visiter,(but not guaranteed) Merlin, Red Grouse, Lapwing Curlew, and distant views of the Cuckoo and Raptors. Green Hairsreak are also around in May and are a short walk from the car. Best times are from mid April when the grouse chicks start to hatch through till June and July. I have a 4x4 so we can go off road or photograph snow scenes in the winter. The North Yorkshire Moors steam trains are a good subject in the winter months.

Equipment, You will need waterproofs if raining and good footwear. Their are places where we can stop for lunch, or have a picnic.(not included in the price) We can also review photos and discuss cameras and techniques.

You will need a 400mm plus lens for the birds, a macro lens is ideal for the Green hairstreak, and lizards etc that we might see on the way. There are also ample opportunities for landscapes as we are traveling through some of the most scenic areas of the uk.

As this is a 1 to 1 i can pick up and drop you off from your accommodation. (Scarborough/Pickering/Helmsley and Whitby area)
